Notice of Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of Cardiff University Fencing Club will be held on 3rd April 2014 at 7:45 PM in the boardroom (third floor, off 'The Lounge') of the Students' Union. The meeting is comprised of two main sections: firstly there will be reports from the Club President and Treasurer, during this part of the meeting we will also ratify the documents of governance of the club. This will be followed by election of the 2014/15 committee. 

Nominations for the committee are now open. To recap the committee for 2014/15 will be comprised of the following roles:

  • President
  • Treasurer/Vice-President
  • Secretary
  • Men's Team Captain
  • Women's Team Captain
  • Social Secretary
  • Armourer

If you wish to stand for any of these positions you will need another member of the club to second your nomination, once you have this please email the Club Secretary (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with the following: your name, the position you are standing for, the name of your seconder and your Cardiff University student number. You may stand for up to two positions on the committee but you can not stand for more than one of the first three positions (President, Treasurer and Secretary). As part of the election process you are required to address the AGM and outline why you are standing and what you hope to achieve in the role, should you be unable to attend the meeting you will need to send, along with your apologies, a brief document (200 word limit) to cover this to the Club Secretary. If you wish to find out more about the various committee roles please look at the Committee Page or talk to the incumbent. Any full member of the club who will be registered students in the 2014/15 academic year are welcome to stand for any position, with the exception of the Team Captains where nominees must be gender appropriate. 

Should you wish to raise a motion at the AGM you need to email the Club Secretary (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with a summary of your motion (maximum of 50 words) and the motion itself (maximum 500 words). The deadline for motions is 96 hours prior to the start of the Annual General Meeting (7:45 PM 30th March). Any full member of the club may raise a motion.
